Hi group,

My Dad arrives tomorrow from Arkansas (via a week in Marietta, GA with my brother).  I believe he plans on staying 2 weeks so Skydiverbill and  I will probably be a little scarce for the next 2 weeks and may not make chat.

Missy,

If you get a chance please let us know if he looks as bad as you've been warned.  Hopefully instead he'll have dancing shoes on.

Doug,

I don't know who this man is in my house, but it's not MY dad.  Cry  I'll elaborate more later, but I will tell you this is soooooooooooooooooo hard to see.  He's swollen, he's pale, he's shuffling instead of walking.  Sigh.

Sorry to hear about you dad Missy. Sometimes old age is not kind. I go to the nursing home everyday to see my mom. I have to look closely to see the real person inside the frail body.

best wishes to you both,

Max

Oh Missy -

Having gone through it twice, I still wouldn't be prepared the next time. It's brutal and relentless. We played old songs, their era, old movies, brought out pictured, had rehab send someone, read to him from the newspaper and books, for gentle limbering exercise. Didn't help much, but it did help and we all enjoyed the good moments.

Try and forget your old Dad except when you are alone. This is the man he is today, still quite a man with a heart that remembers.

Much love, Susie

Sorry to hear it Missy.  I had a friend my age contract cancer a few years back.  Chemo is one hell of a trip.

I also saw an old friend this year who treated successfully a few years back and they look marvelous.  I hope the chemo works for your Dad.

best,
Willy
