Diana,

Yeppers it's a pretty common procedure for those of us with cirrhosis.  I've only been cirrhotic for about a year and I've already had mine done.  I got scoped at both ends at the same time.

I get endoscopy done annually these days, have for a couple years now.  It's much fun and as an added bonus my GI always gives me full color photo's.  I have no idea what percentage of cirrhosis folks get varices but it is one of the fun things heppers can look forward to.

The procedure itself is a breeze, let us know how it turns out for you.

Well kids...NO esophageal varices!  I did have a constricted esphagous that had to be dialated..and got a cold that day ...but other than that I'm ok. Wink

On another note...just an FYI especially for those that have met me....My husband Patrick and I are getting a divorce.  It is actually a good thing and I am not upset.  We are not what we each need.  I don't know what I need...he needs a mom...lol.   Anyhoo I am single and still damn good lookin!  ha ha.  Grin  ciao...Diana
