Hi all,

I'm doing REALLY good! Whites: 2.8, Reds: 3.58, Hgb 11.7, ANC 1288, Plt 229.  Only 16 more weeks to go (hopefully) and I just may make it without neupy or procrit!

As Robin knows, I had a scare this weekend.  My father, who is fighting cancer, was hospitalized with arterial fibrillation.  He's being discharged today and will have to stay on Coumadin as he did indeed have a blockage and if he doesn't stay on Coumadin he's at risk for stroke.  He had been on Coumadin for a while last year due to a minor thrombosis.  I guess it's going to be a permanent fixture for him now.  One of the things my father's illness has done is given me the courage to make the first step in reconnecting with my brother who I have been estranged from for 10 years.  I know a lot of you thought I was an only child LOL.  I sent my brother a friend request on facebook and not only did he accept it within 5 minutes, he also suggested that I befriend my nephew who I haven't seen in over 15 years.

It's been a little emotionally draining but I feel things are happening the way they are supposed to.

Glad to hear you're hanging in there and your dad as well.

While I see your numbers are pretty dang good how are you feeling?  Do you feel better this time around?  Energy level?

Actually feel the same as I always feel on tx.  No energy but I have pushed myself harder this time.  I'm still working out on the Wii 6 days a week, doing about 2 hours of housework a day and then I veg out for the rest of the day.  Social withdrawal is really bad but that is typical for me too.

Hey Missy -

So glad you checked in with your and your dad's data. It sounds like you are doing really well, but I like Will Smith in Independence Day, won't light a cigar till the fat lady sings, just to play it safe without jinxing. (I do feel this is the one that will get you through.) Wow, doing Wii 6 days a week, now that's determination on tp.

Scary about your dad, but at least the game-plan is mapped out in positive ways now. Something more or less tangible gives hope, even if you have to find out the hard way.

How nice that you could reconnect with family as you did - and it was positive. It goes a long way in giving you a stronger sense of family.

We love you and always pray, cross fingers, knock on wood, whatever it takes, for you,

Susie

Hi Missy,

Seems like more is positive for you in the last week that the negative of having your father have a health scare (as if you both don't already have enough stressors). Good labs, connecting with your brother and nephew and having Bill home for a week and tolerating/enjoying his company. LOL We love you.

Nine more.  Then whatcha gonna do for an encore?

How you feeling?  Or for me maybe better, how are you feeling this time versus last time?  How's Bill?  How's Dad?  How soon post you gonna do PCR?  30 day?  (I know you ain't waiting long.)

Wheeze's mom is in hospital, probably not going to make it.  Wheeze is having a tough time with it.  Wasn't expected and is of such a odd cause that she just can't understand.  Still a chance but right now on respirator and they are wanting to pull it in the next day or two.

I run up to Shands sometime next month.  Want me to say howdy for you?

Ummm... "encore" ... surely you jest Dougie.    I'll be doing my end of treatment PCR in about 4 weeks and I will do my first post PCR 4 weeks after finishing.   The game plan is if I relapse again to right back on and do suppressive therapy.

My Dad had a bout in the hospital with A-Fib and he's now back on coumadin.   He is in a lot of pain, probably from the multiply myleoma but he is stubborn as hell (as Bill says ... "the nut doesn't fall far from the tree").  He's on the road in his RV right now taking a summer vacation to Wyoming.

Bill is great, he just turne 50 on the 27th of July and has already has is celebratory colonoscopy.  On Sunday we celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary.

I'm so sorry to hear about Wheezie's mom.  I know it's a hard experience.

I feel pretty typical for a treating hepper I guess.  I am having a problem with my blood sugar again (non fasting dropped to 56) and my synthroid and has to be adjusted about every 3 months.  But soon, hopefully, this will be over.

Stop the presses on Wheeze's mom.  Three days ago doctors told them no real change, day or two they'd pull the plug, bring in the family.  Two days ago maybe.  Yesterday awake and alert.  Today off ventilator, awake, alert, talking, not real oriented.  Heart rate is high, best they can do is 125.  BP 110/45.  Temp normal.  IO getting normal.  Tomorrow she starts on ensure to see what happens.  Might end up with a colostomy bag for awhile but even that should be temporary if even required.

Her heart is still weak, lungs still have fluid and chest cath in place.  Moved out of ICU and in room.  She could go in the middle of the night, but right now it looks like she might just make it.
