Glory - Thanks so much for the response and the prayers. Went up to MELD 28 this month (Feb. 12). At this rate, maybe during the reunion you guys could stop by my room and say hello...LOL. Glad Mike's doing so well. Great to hear he's back in the gym! After my last ablation, I was pretty much debilitated for about 8 weeks or so (still unsure why), and just this weekend got back to the gym we use. VERY SORE !! Happy to hear your wrist is almost all the way back. Hope you don't mind, but I've shared your experience (broken wrist, transplant call, et al) with a few friends of mine, and the response is always, "My goodness...that must have been a heckuva weekend!

Could you share with me the side affects I may be facing from the meds? I'm familiar with prednisone, as my youngest daughter was diagnosed with systemic Lupus when she was around 10, and has been on and off that stuff for the past 15 years. Can be some nasty stuff. Not sure how it affects a "person of age" though. How'd Mike do with that, and the other meds?

I was building data reports on the OPTN site this morning, and as of 2-18, there are only two type A's with melds over 25 at UNC. So I gotta be getting close. I know for sure I'm getting nervous!

Again, thanks for your responses, and indulgence of my questions. There just seems to be so many to ask.

Thoughts and Prayers,
Bill

Bill- You are almost there! Mike has an appt on March 10, 2011, if you happen to get your transplant during that time, please have your wife message me 919-738-4009. Mike was unable to take prograf due to BAD headaches. UNC switched him to Neoral and he is doing fine with that. Your first 3 days you will be moody and you might even feel like you are going crazy, this will pass. If you start hearing things crazy stuff TELL THE NURSE! Mike never told me until after the fact. 3 days after transplant he was standing by his bed, he looked like he was going to cry, when I ask what was wrong. He started to tell me he was hearing demonic type music, things running through his head. We called the nurse and found out due to high does of prednisone it was a side effect. They gave him something to help with those crazy side effects. Who knows you and Mike might have the same birthday month for your new liver.  Please keep me posted.

Glory - Thanks for the insight once again. The more I know, the more prepared and ready I can be. Went in to see Dr. Hayashi last week, and even he was at a loss as to why no calls yet. There has got to be a way to encourage people to be donors, without feeling like you're wishing them ill will. But, fact of the matter is, I haven't been called because there is a severe shortage of donated organs. Somewhere in this forum, I'd like to see peoples ideas about that, because I just don't know where or how to begin. I passed your number on to my wife in the event I'm transplanted and "in house" at Mike's next visit.

Thanks again. Cross your fingers. And say hi to Mike! Sounds like he's doing great!
