Curious Question
«
on:
June 29, 2011, 01:32:01 PM »
I was recently interviewed over the phone by a representative for Vertex pharmaceuticals for their mentor program. I was asked a simple question, or what would seem like a simple question to most, and thought it might be interesting to hear your responses, especially since so many are going to be starting treatment now that the new drugs are approved ... so here goes ... can't wait to see what everyone else says ...
What is the one thing you would tell someone who is recently diagnosed with HCV?
My answer was: Life goes on. Life is not going to stop and stand still just because of a hepatitis diagnosis.

I am interested in the program and will read up on it. i assume it is for TX experienced people. i have a few friends who were "Vertex Ambassadors".
My major fear was that this was going to be a life ending disease. I think the
one thing
that i would tell any newly diagnosed person is that it is largely cureable.
Somehow i think Vertex would like that response.

Hey Missy -
I would probably say that don't invite fears and worries by being over-prepared before they come up. There are those who have no major sides and also clear. Basically it's a crap shoot, we're all guinea pigs with no promises made in advance of going on treatment. Just take things as they come up, mention that they MAY, and to not be shy about speaking to your doc or practitioner comfortably and with any questions, weird reactions, or what nows.

Hello All, I think the one thing i would tell someone is to gain as much knowledge as possible about Hep C and the treatment options..as well as it is generally a slow progressing disease...

Hello Betty, I'm doing ok, just dealing with chronic pain issues, doctors appts and labs..Life after tx hasn't gotten any better..
I stop by everyday and post now and again..usually don't get much response, so i don't spend much time at posting..
I have taken up a new hobby raising chickens, trying to keep myself busy..As well as having my grandkids during summer break..
How are things going for you? I still have the recipe for the figs, hubby brought some home the other day, so i will be putting it to use again...Take Care..Winona
