12 Week Incivek down - Diet Time
«
on:

Finished twelve weeks yesterday, no more Incivek and it's fat requirement.
Did well at staying complient although that is deceptively tough. I did end up with three extra Riba pills so I forgot them once somewhere week 8-12. Gained in excess of 20lbs and over 3 inches.
Just gave 12week labs so no new results. I have been pleased at hgb, it has fallen but much slower than in the past. I have backed off on weekly labs going 10-14 days in between now. I will be curious what effect, if any, stopping Incivek has.
Sides; minor systemic rash, no itch, Benadryl controlled and only three day, anemia but just now in 10 or less region, anorectal discomfort (For comparison that is like calling Godzilla a lizard.), and some fatigue. To date I have handled school, 12 hour clinical days, and babysitting twin 2.5 year olds.
Sum up 12 weeks, not without impact, but without significant impact. Altogether tolerable.

CBC portion 12 week labs came back. GI called to make sure hematologist is watching, she is.
Hgb 8.5 . No real impact, little fatigue but not so bad it doesn't allow me normal life.
Platelets 45. Bruises have bruises. Fortunately when hgb is below 10 bruises don't show up so bad. My lower legs, ankle, and feet the after my 12 hour clinical day are bad. Swollen, bruised mess. Otherwise my risk for DVT or stroke is down.
And the one the hemo doc's office is worried about, WBC 1.7. Normally no real problem as they are stable and I don't get sick. But they are not real fond of me doing clinical on a med/surg floor. Bah humbug, point in the very first place is protect yourself. Long as I do my job I am not going to get infected and if I do get infected it is because I didn't do my job.
Offered to infuse today, floor is 8.0 but all I had to do was say I was fatigued and bring on the blood. I would rather wait and get larger infusion that holds me longer.
I have felt so good I had been ignoring labs. And the last labs were encouraging because decline in hgb has been half of what it has always been. Had started to think I was going to get by... Still it is oddly encouraging as it looks like infusions should last twice as long.

Doug, i hope you are feeling better now that the incivek is done. It looks like the anemia is not rebounding with that leg of the treatment ending. Even so, it looks as though you'll make it to the end of TX. Hoping so, but I assume it is too early to tell.
Just be careful. Hospitals are department stores of germs; every type ya can find.
