Jazz, Sometimes it takes going into the ass mode to get things done..so glad you got your meds...

Sorry to hear you have a sore throat, i don't know if you want to try this, just thought i would offer it...

COLDS:
Those suffering from common or severe colds should take one tablespoon lukewarm honey with 1/4 spoon cinnamon powder daily for three days. This process will cure most chronic cough, cold, and clear the sinuses.

Feel better and Take Care..Winona

Heard Honey is good for colds in children at 1 TBspn x3. I always double up on Zinc . Never hurts to overdo C as well. My book about Pegasys says to only drink Cola when it's 'flat.' My Pegasys teacher was hysterical bout avoiding sugar drinks, saying most side effects are caused by NOT drinking at least 3 liters of water per day. He also said to limit caffeine cause it de-hydrates water from you. My Registered Dietitian said to keep your pee like lemon-aide, not too clear, not too orange.
Finished my class, not too exciting. He said 'scratchy butt' creme was best for itchy butt. Cannot find it. Did find 'aiti-monkey butt' so I need to call and see. They are really busy where I am being to be monitored. Had 5 of us in the class.
He said to get 1% cortisone creme and generic 'Eucerin" cream, mix them and then after every shower while damp, cover body to keep yourself moisturized. He said Prep H does not help Itchy Butt.
Are you having Diarrhea or Constipation?
He also said no Anti-Persperants, Anti-Bacterials, or Perfumed soaps.  Recommending Head and Shoulders w/ Zinc, Tone, Oil of Olay, Dove, and Aveeno.
My Insurance has delayed my start cause the nurse did not respond to them within 3 days. She said to call her around Feb to see.
The Pegasys guy said, even if your insurance weird out on you during treatment, you will still get your meds. He said we can only take Incivek once in a lifetime, and that if you stop it, you cannot re-start it.
Hope your keep on keeping on Jazz, Fight the Fight. Slay the Dragon.

2nd week of the stupid cold, finally out of the head, into the chest and that has sucked but it is finally waning.
Had wifes birthday this last week-end. Went to a German Resturant and oh the red cabbage and sauerkraut and hot german potatoe salad...
And then Jagerschnitzel and this one beef one I don't remember how to spell but was awesome...
Treatment is going along fine, nothing major, got a small rash on leg but I have insanely scratched it a couple of times, and need to let it heal.
Butt is fine.
Have noticed with the cold it is lasting longer than usual but I have been keeping the vitamins and zinc up.
No smoking still working

Jazz,
I believe you are on Incevik. When I was on pegintron, i took my shot on Firday nite, and just stayed home all weekend feeling like I had a low grade to high fever. Usually was feeling better by Monday or Tuesday.
I read a lot that pegasys users have 'delayed' flu like symptoms. They say the shot is Friday, but the flu like symptoms are not till Wednesday. That's a 5 day delay.   Wondering if you could share about this?
Been thinking that if we stay busy, the sides are 'less noticed,' than if we lay around, and dwell on how we are feeling. But I do remember in my last few months of double tx, say month 8-11, I was getting very short winded, and not having much strength. At least trip tx is only 6 months, which is when I believe double tx was just starting to get bad for me.
I believe I also read that the first 3 months or triple tx is hardest, and then it seems to get easier after completing the incivek at 3 months.

When you are feeling better, and have some time, I would love to hear how it has been.
Hang in there. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, doing the next right thing, and This Too WILL PASS.

Thanks,

I had delayed sides with Pegasys.  It took 2 or 3 days after injection to kick my tail.

The first round of treatment , the first 2 or 3 shots I had some dizziness and flu-like symptoms anfd then I was fine after that.
This time I haven't really felt any symptoms with the pegaysus.
The Incivek, I was tired , had burning butt and rash on legs and lip splits at corners of mouth. But since that was over in December most stuff is OK.
I do realize my immune system is taking a beating as I usually don't even get the colds, much less one that has been hanging on for 2 weeks.
Don't do any more blood work until March when the treatment is over, so numbers must have been good enough they were not worried.

Thanks for sharing Jazz and Missy,

Keep thinking need to fine tune the injection day, but am pretty much resigned to just doing it on Friday night like everyone else. If I get a delayed bump, so be it.
Am hopeful I can keep standing on my feet like Jazz. Wondering what kind of work you do, to see which jobs keep the meds at bay. Heard a guy who worked construction kept working, and barely noticed sides. Heard nurse say she got to take naps at work for 1-2 hours. I am disabled and don't get to work. My knees are really bad, and my back will act up if I lift too much. Had been in school for the past 3 years, hoping to become IT Networking specialist, but am afraid to look for work until I see how tx sides are gonna be. Have a past in construction as a carpenter, but too much lifting is bad. Was thinking could hit a labor pool and try some day labor handling a shovel all day. Find shoveling very relaxing and good for the stomach muscles. For now I just keep getting ready for the first injection.

thanks again for the feedback, know I am not hi-jacking your thread, it just feels empty everywhere else on the BB.

Hijack away, it is a shared thread and for support.
I am a Laboratory Support engineer. Don't have to do alot of heavy lifting. Set-up and run validation tests on components they put on large construction machines . I tell people I break stuff for a living... but they have to survive from the hottest deserts to Antartica so some people are glad I test to extreme.

Nothing new really too much.
No real effects of treatment except some rashes and I figure half of that is just winter keeping stuff dry.
Got some of this vaseline lotion that seems to be working for the most part.
And my wife had this stuuf that was a bath salt thing with oatmeal something or other that stopped an itching fit fast.
One month to go to finish line.

Thats great Jazz.  Smiley

I think this just might be it and the hep will  be a distant bad memory for you like so many others here. Tx. has come so far since I found out I was infected.....But I still havent had the nerve to try it. Though I have given it more serious thought the past year. Im really scared to rock the boat and hope I dont to regret it.

Good luck to you and all the others taking the plunge.  Smiley

OK, it's only day 4 for me, but I can't believe how much easier this is than the old peg-intron. I used to get these golf ball size black and blue welt things at the site of my injections, but have only a barely noticeable red area with this Pegasys. Fingers crossed it goes as smooth for me as it for Jazz.
To think this could just be a bad dream from the past is such a huge relief. Knowing you have hcv is an excuse to feel bad, getting a SVR is gonna be the reason to live again.

Just re-read the whole thread. And it really did sound kind of easy.
You're gonna get the SVR
Glad you quit smoking
I quit smoking a wile back to, however, I also quit meat and dairy 6 months ago after watching the documentary "Forks Over Knives." Hoping being a Vegan helps me get my SVR too.

Congratulations Jazz and Doug, and thanks for sharing.

George,

Are you at least eating Fish?  I know Robin is normally a vegan but after her transplant and while she was on treatment they told her she needed to get more protein so she finally caved in and agreed to eat seafood as long as it didn't have a face.

Am very aware of protein issue. I had been eating some chicken soup all last week because I had a stomach virus, and couldn't think of an 'easy on the stomach' vegan meal, so I caved in and got 16 cans of the soup. Coincidentally, I had eaten Salmon the night before I got sick on my stomach, so it may be a little while till I can work up to it again. I had to eat salmon about 4 months after becoming vegan because I had begun to have some dizziness I couldn't shake. (later learned just getting blood circulating also got rid of dizziness)  I make sure to get my protein from Soy, beans, and peanuts. Note that too much soy is not advisable, however, it is now becoming The choice for Bodybuilders. It seems it is superior to Whey protein. FYI, a person needs about 1/2 their body weight in 'grams' of protein per day; 'if they are bodybuilding. On a few nutrition sites it said women need 60 g and men needed 80 g per day + - =. I asked my doctor if me being vegan would be an issue,  and he said no,  it's  ok; I guess cause I had articulated the above to him. (however my other doctor told me to take 1000 mcg of B 12 Sub-lingual per day)
Perhaps Robin is not getting enough protein from ANY source. FYI green peas are also very high in protein and so are lentils @ almost 20 g per cup. Since my viral load went from 2.5 mil, to 700k within 1 year, the only thing I did different was: Drop out of school/Stress, become vegan, began bicycling regularly, and consuming green tea with honey and lots of fresh Ginger. Go Figure.

Just one more shot left and then another week of pills though they sent enough of them for 2 weeks. Got an appointment on the 20th. Nothing to new or special going on.
Had to go work out of town for a few weeks, but it has been an easy job so can't complain.
