So, here I am again!

I started to thinking maybe I should see about that new ultrasound thing, that non-intrusive thing, so I stopped off at my GI guy's office and made an appt.
I saw him in November and had the Fibroscan thing done - very neat and much better than the big needle.

Today, I had my appt with my old NP, I requested her again, and it seems that not much has changed with Mr. Liver... still around 1/2 - my Fibroscan score was 7.9.
Before they drained me of 7 vials of blood which took many pokes and I left with a new appt card for two appts, a copy of my OK to see my records for the treatment company who will start the ball rolling again for my Trillium coverage. It'll take a couple months to get everything in place, but no rush.

I'll be doing the Pegatron again along with Victrelis.... I see many here are using the other, but I just go with what my Dr. says to take.

By now, I have forgotten alot of the issues that accompany tx, but I am sure, sadly, it will come back to me quickly! I was very very lucky last time; I really had next to no sides, aside from tired, some dry skin, and very irritable.

I sure hope this 2nd round is not too bad.

See you more often now.

Good luck.  Duration is shorter than the old routine so a big plus.  You will have neither the fat requirement nor the unique rear end sides peculiar to Incivek.  Sure hope all goes well.

Howdy Blue!  It's been a while...

I was looking through some of your olde posts to see your past TX response, staging, etc and enjoyed the walk through memory lane.  some good posts!  Lot's of it was 4 years ago when the 'hood shut down.  Time flies when yer havin fun......

I think you'll have a good result this time, based on your staging, sex, clean living habits, but I don't think I ever saw the result of your TX.  Based on seeing that you did it for 30 something weeksof TX I'd guess that you finished and relapsed?  Correct me if I'm wrong.....

Willy, yup, I finished and was clear at the 48wks and then by the 6mo post tx check ... relapse.

The dr's suggestion made sense - since I had no damage, still didn't have an health issues, it would be OK to wait for the 3rd piece to come out... he figured I could try with pegasys, but it was likely I'd have the same result.... clear fine, stay clear, then relapse. And who in their right mind wants to go through another year if you are in pretty good shape? Not me!

He said wait for the inhibitors and so I kept watching for some news, then hearing about the May release, I thought I guess I better see where I am and if it's available in Can, and finally if the dr thinks I should try.

I got the Fibro Scan done, not bad at 7.9, but that's what THEY said now what I know!
It'll be different this time as I am not working, so it pretty much will have to be paid for by the Peg Care assist and provincial Trillium program, like last time. I'll likely collect unemployment then hopefully get work, but let's see ..... look for work in the middle of tx? LOL yup, that's sound like lots of fun!

But it's not till next yr so there's time to see what happens before then.

As a responder......a woman.....and one with minimal liver damage your chances look very good.

Furthermore..... from reading posts it appears that alcohol or cigarettes have also been dispensed with; you could actually have a better viral response.  It may not be definitive, but I have read that immune response is muted by alcohol and that it can take months from quitting to actually get full benefit.  I know that drinking was not an issue, but every little bit helps, IMHO.  I would venture that stopping smoking may yield similar results; full benefit is not seen the next day; more like months afterwards.

I would consider checking out any weight, exercise, IR issues if those are up for review.  These may also impact on immune response.

I'll definitely be better without the smoking and alcohol, and now I'll work on some of the weight.
Maybe THIS time I'll be one of the ones who loses weight, not gains.
I likely overdid it with worry about getting sicker and so I tried quite hard to eat as normally as I could, and thank goodness I had no nausea.
I think that's my biggest worry, having almost no sides the last time, I may get smacked with a double dose of sides this time LOL.
Hey, what happens happens. There's always things to do to lessen the sides, so if I eventually get started, I'll be around and whining for sure.

Ahhhhh, my favorite Canadian Blue Girl is back on board.   Grin.   I know for a fact you are in better shape because you were so helpful to me when it came to getting me on some kind of exercise plan that worked for me and you were so proud of me when I threw out that last pack of smokes.    Yeppers, I just know you are going to get rid of this crap and you will do GREAT!!!!!

Hey, I'll give this new stuff a run for the money; and hope for the best. It does feel so good to be free of the smoking and drinking, so I am sure it will easier this time without the smoke.

I am sure that your exercising has gone a long way to help you with your recent recovering as well; a healthier body is able to heal quicker I am sure!
I took off my 3 bandages from the blood sucking nurse yesterday... I swear my veins are all inside my bones; it takes a miracle to find the decent veins, and when you are taking tons of vials of blood well, the wells ran dry twice, so 3 punctures this time.

I have to look for some info on the fibro scan results.... I am rusty; I forgot to ask for copies LOL I'll get them next visit.

Nice to see you here again Missy perky any day now lady!
