Hey there Richard. I can't help you because I'm in a tough situation myself, unemployed and raising a son on my own. I've been trying to get on Social Security Disability for almost 2 years and still haven't had any luck.
My suggestion in the meantime is to do an online search for classifieds and the state you would prefer to live in (ie: classifieds, Florida) and see what you come up with. Many classifieds online offer free posting and you can pre-write a message similar to what you wrote in this post. Just copy and paste it in as many free classifieds online as you can find, and make sure you leave a telephone number or some way for them to contact you personally, maybe an e-mail address or your home address. Then see what happens. It may take a little while but I imagine that it may be possible to find a helpful soul out there or at least someone who can point you in a good direction to find help. Another idea is to search for churches online in the state of your preference. Write to their pastor or minister and explain your situation, maybe include a photo of yourself all cleaned up and looking your best. Ask if they can help you by posting your message in their church for people to read, and hopefully they will be of some help to you, or again maybe they can steer you toward a helpful group or agency.
Good luck brother, and God bless.

I have a sober living home in San Clemente; many of the people live there permanently. The rent is $380.00 a month -- it is two blocks from the beach.
I do not know if this is any help == glen

Hi Richard,
I moved out of California for the cost of living reason. You make the limit here for stamps/health ins state called Access. Palm trees, pools, tubs and great rent.
Food for thought
Good luck PB

Hey Hon,
Richard, Florida is the place to be. With that income you'ld be almost middle class income (lol). Actually, there are many nice places that are inexpensive here. I have a huge 3 bedroom house, 2 bath, and about 1/4 acre land. I rent w/option to buy. I pay $850 per month but $250 of that goes towards purchase price each month. Check out myflorida.com and go through the visitors or planning to move iyems.
Are you looking to share expenses because of your illness,be you'ld like company, or you just do not believe you can find a resonably priced apt/home? You would be able to afford a place of your own here, if you choose. Write back and I will gladly send you any and all information. Lake Placid is one of the least expensive places to live. I live in central FL myself. Moved from Roch, NY.
Health and peace to you always,
Portia

Hey portia, I currently live in florida and I am looking for a house with option to buy also. Where did you find yours? I am looking to move into a house that is not going to be to expensive becuase I need to be able to afford it if I get sick and can't work. Oh, and do you know of any support groups here.

To those that posted.......I'm sorry, but we've deleted off the negative post and the replies to that negative post. (although I enjoyed them, and think that "Morning Dew" was exceptional.)
The idea is to remove the impulse for further defending and or vilifying.
Thanks and apologies.

I hate losing the "art" in the process, though.
Thanks for being understanding.

Hi Richard
I too am on a fixed income. Have you researched Idaho. The cost of living isn't bad nor are the surroundings. I live in HUD housing which adjust your rent according to your income. There are doctors here that are very knowledgable about HCV. Good luck in your search.

Earl, I can't remember this one. It seems like for some reason a member was attacked for being sinle or something arcane like that and then the thing snoballed into ridiclous. It was a little rude, hurtful, silly and amusing all at the same time, in a Jerry Springer kinda way. Ultimately, it was way off topic and extraneous.
I kinda wish I could re-read it now myself.
(but I'm pretty sure that the person who got slammed is glad that it's gone)
