Wow Al!
That's quiet a deal...
Have you tried out the strings buddy?

I'm spoiled... I'll admit...
I have to have my Elixir - medium lights... (sounds like a cross between a drink and a brand of smokes... hahaha... Grin)
And they are darn hard to find, too... Well, at least here in my little neck of the woods, they are.
My local music store orders them for me though...
I've certainly spent enough money there over the years however... I told the owner that I should get my strings for free... But, he disagreed... Imagine that!
Smiley

Anyhoo... Thanks for the link.

Happy slinging   Wink

Al....Do you know of Eric Miller in Chehalis? He may not be the
G-monster that Scott is but i have no way to compare....
however, word is that he's more than competent and he's in the Northwest.  Check   www.matrixcoffeehouse.com/hog/guitars    ~*~

Thanks for the cheap strings link, Al. I passed it on to a few of my guitar buds, and they all appreciated it greatly.

Keep on pickin'!

I pick! Not great, but have been doing so for a few years now. My heart is in the Blues and Jazz. I'm waitng to save and buy a new guitar. I was in some of the local shops and anything that sounds like the 12 string pro martin, beat up like straight-up's, and has it's own voice, is in the $1,800 to $3,000. I don't have that kinda cash, I'll just have to dream for awhile. Smiley

I penned a tune about that guitar, it brought a great deal of peace and escape. I was about week 10 into tx. and really in a funk, I lost it in my garage, nobody around and I destroyed that guitar. Several small pieces.

About 8 hr's later I went to play it, and realized I destroyed her and I cried. There was tunes I was writing, playing, learning to play the harmonica with the guitar, it was cool escaping from tx. Play play play away you guy's,

Thanks for the site Al. You guy's might want to check these lads out. Olin is a good friend of ours, awesome artist all the way around and a awesome human being! These guy's really know how to weave a tale through music!

I second that Straight-Up! The thread Al started is real cool. I was around music and musicians all my life. I'm begining to realize in my writing, that this can be a journey of creativity. I'm not even pissed about the guitar, it just wants me to play and write the rest of my life away.

As long as you are digressing.......
I am not a musician.  I did play the trumpet..... very badly in Jr High.  I also used to play a harmonica.... and hookey too.  I was tempted to write when you were mentioning Quicksilver.... and Pride of Man......that was a great song.

I write because I have watched a film a few times that I think you might enjoy.  It's called "Six String Samurai".  It is a science fiction /fanstasy movie that is rather like "Wizard of OZ" meets  "The Road Warrior".  It takes place in post apocalyptic Las Vegas outskirts where the KING ruled....... but after 40 years of ruling Lost Vegas, he has died...... But who will be the new KING?  The film chronicles the attempts of "Buddy", one of the KING wannabes slouching towards Vegas as he fights off bowlers, the canibalistic Cleaver family, other wannabes, mutants and the Russian army as he makes his way towards that shining city.  With his six string 57 hollowbody in one hand and his samuri sword in the other, while DEATH, with his white stratocaster is not far behind.
This film is funny, has great action sequences, and is as imaginative as it is low buget.  In addition to the zany characters it has a great soundtrack with music provided by the Red Elvises.  This is probably not available everywhere.  Let me know if you ever see it.

Ahhhhh too bad.  I live in a great cultural hub (hahahahahahahah) so I just got mine from the library.  I'd loan ya this one, but it has to be back in a few days.....  Hey, you guys could all just buy a community one..... I mean, don't you guys on the west coast all just live a few blocks from each other?   Grin

Gee, I didn't realize how great it really was till I decided to find you some reviews.  Some of the reviews were pretty hi octane themselves.

I'm sorry you couldn't locate it.  Man.... first HEP, then this.......   Grin

you guys go OUT to rent movies?  I use netflix -- and the movies just come to me. Sort of like magic.  and almost everything is available, you can do all sorts of searches, probably even find Willy's famous review of six string samauri there.  this hep c, I could never get a movie back to blockbuster on time.  Died from heart failure over my late charges the week before they erased all late charges.
Just bought Night Gallery -- the first season.  Guess I'm getting old.  reminds me of my dad watching red skelton when I was a kid.
Oh, and we still watch tv with the sound off listening to music, old people's rock music as my daughter would call it.  Can't remember, what music is it that goes great with the wizard of oz?

Al..... Well, I had no idea you'd buy it...... but I hope you like it.......  If you hate it....... well....I'll shovel your walk your walk next time I come to visit.

Joris, Joris, Joris....... my vcr tape measures exactly 7 inches...... You've got to be thinking about Beta.  As Ronald Reagan would say: "there you go again...."  Grin

Donna:  Yeah...... I am a recalcitrant reprobate when it comes to getting my movies back to the library and rental store on time.  Time just goes by so fast!  LOL.  I'm sure I could have paid for my treatment by now.   Wink  I don't have much going for entertainment.  I've not hooked up the TV antenna yet...  Even when I do I know that I'll just shreik when I see the stuff that is on TV.  I used to come home at lunch...... And my tiny children would be watching Ricky Lake on TV during the summer.  I was so sure that they would be permanently marred for life.  So as soon as I hook the antenna up..... I'll probably be up on the roof breaking off those pointy things on top.....trying to find the one that is picking up Jerry Springer.
I also confess that I don't have a cell phone too....

way, way, out of it,
Willy
