It's weird, really.

First you get the "death sentence" upon hearing you've got hep c. You go through the disbelief, anger, fear, dread, self pity, angst, forlorn desolation.....

You've become the outcast. The feared. The shunned.

And times marches on.

The sun still rises. You still go to work. You still play. You still love your wife/husband/kids. You still laugh. You still cry. You still believe. You still doubt. You survive.

You have good days. You have bad days. Good months, bad months. Stretches of time that you think will never end. Stretches of time that you pray will never end. You survive.

You watch the news and feel the heartbreak of those who have lost everything through war/famine/genocide and the perverse sickness of the human condition. It's a beautiful life filled with inexplicable savagery. You survive.

And you find yourself watching the Tour de France every morning to cheer on Lance because he refused to die & decided to win. And you smile when he gets another yellow jersey. He survived. You survived.

It's kind of weird, really. We survive~
