Hello Everyone,

This is my first post and am very glad I found this site.  My husband was just diagnosed with Hep C this past Friday so I have only had a few days to research.  I have been reading all of the topics and responses about the treatment and I was wondering if anyone has tried a different approach such as holistic medicine or herbal therapy.  Any advice or opinions would be great.  Thanks!

You're right, this is a great site and I'm sorry to hear your husband tested hcv+. I've been trying a few different things to keep from going thru treatment. The only thing that seemed to help, as far as liver function test, was a product called Livatone Plus. I get it from the web site liverdoctor.com. It's a good site for information concerning the liver and how it works. There is a wealth of information on this site as well, and the people here are both knowledgable and understanding. Good luck to you and yours while you try to sort out all the information because there is more info out there than this old man can get a grip on. Keep in touch and let us know how things are going.

Welcome to the board Sryman.  We have a good alternatives section here.  There is a lot of information on alternatives, supplements, diet, and complementary therapies.  There are many people that may be able to wait out the virus in hopes that a newer treatment may be more effective, a shorter treatment period, and with fewer sides.  There are treatments currently in testing that hasve shown great promise.

You'll soon know what genotype your husband is and a feel for how much liver damage he may have.  This will help you decide what to do.  In the meanwhile...... keep reading and please let us know how he does on his upcoming test results.  We are here to answer questions as you have them.

best,
Willy

Thanks for the info so far!!  It is very helpful as it is hard to know which sites have the best info.
