I have finished week 29 and they found "cotton wool spots" on my retinal.  This type of side effect is not common and they fear it could lead to blindness and my doc may want me to stop treatment.  Does anyone have any type of information on this....had this side effect, long-term after treatment what may happen???

Hi Bill.......

After reading your email you sent, I have done some research on this disease....
What treatment are you currently taking?
From what I have read.....this is a side effect from the therapy......I am including some links for you to look at for now, and will look some more on long term damage, etc.

http://www.pegintron.com/about.html
The information is at the bottom of the page....

http://www.i-base.info/pub/htb/v4/htb4-3/Pegylated.html

http://www.hepatitis-c.de/abstract/139.htm#english
This is a study that was done....

If I were you......print out some of these pages and show them to your doctor......tell him there is a link between the therapy and the disease.....see what he says.
I'll look into the long term effects, as thats what you need to know regarding staying on tx or discontinuing therapy. Give me some time......

Also.......your user name for this site is Willie_B
Ok Bill......its great hearing from you......take care and I'll be in touch real soon.....
God Bless,
Lori
