Life is good

« on: June 21, 2003, 10:29:57 PM »

Good morning all!

I took # 2 last night. Feel great this morning. Last night was iffy. Took it in the tummy this time. My hubby is my injector and he is great. This time it HURT   Shocked  for a few minutes and it burned for about an hour. I figure it is because it is such a tender spot.  And I was a little queezy, that past shortly after.

Anyway it was tolerable. I feel great this morning!

Have a great Sunday!

Hey Jackie, that's pretty good ! I haven't made it to the tummy yet. I'm waiting until I run out of spots for that one.
What dosage are you on of the Pegasys and copegasys ?
I'm asking cause I know that the Pegintron is weight dosed but I'm wondering about the pills, which in our case are the copegasys.
l'm wondering if the doc is going to give me 800 or l200.
I would also like to hear from the rest of you guys on this stuff.
I have a friend who increased her dosage after she didn't clear after 12 weeks. And then she cleared. Not that I would do this...I don't have the b.... but I'm just curious. Also she's on the Pegintron which you mix yourself, but he had her on 800 of the ribavirin and she was l50 pounds.

Marina,

Well the pills are 200 MG each and I take 6 per day.... so 1200 on that. The shots are 180mcg/ml per week.
None is based on my weight.

What I want to know is I read one of the posts on this site on prefilled injections. Short of reading them all again to find that post........Who and where?

I got my rx from the dr and took to the pharmacy to get done.  They said they never filled before. Nice. I think I will call Pegasys tomorrow and get info on getting from them from now on. My Insurance pays for the meds so I will see what I can do.

 OK ...now I'm confused.
I went to the refrigerator and looked at my last shot left. It says; Pegasys 180 - 1.0 ml

As far as the post about the prefilled, that was me. Mine come that way. I don't do anything but inject.

Also, do you or does anyone else know how the dosage criteria of the ribavarin/copegasys are determined ?

I pulled my dosage from the box and thats what it said....180mcl/ml

I read that the pegasys injections are the same for everyone. I think it was on thier website..It also says not based on weight. The pills it says you will have to take several a day. I would ask the Dr next visit.
www.pegasys.com

Where do you get your shots from? Pegasys?

Jackie, it comes from a place called Axium. This is the pharmacy that the doctor's office uses.
They had called me to verify all info. and they mailed the first package straight to the doctors office. I'm thinking of keeping it that way because the doc isn't that far from me and this way I can ensure that someone will be there to receive.

Hi Marina and Jackie,
I found out that the prefilled injections are sort of a convenience that SOME of the drug stores will do for you.  I get my stuff from CVS, mail order.  They actually deliver it to my house.  When I first got it, it arrived before I get home from work but is packed in dry ice so it's ok.  I have to call them and ask if they will do the prefilled for me.

I have not done my belly yet either.  I think I am going to try to stay away from that Smiley  It seems like it would hurt more.....

My pegasys says 180 - 1 ml and my needle is supposed to be filled to the 1cc mark.  I think this is how you can tell a doctor from a patient!   Grin  hee hee......it really all looks the same to me, just different ways of writing it Smiley

Have a great Monday everyone!

Hi Penney, hopefully Jackie will read this too. My question is primarily the dosage of the ribavirin/copegasys pills.
I weigh l25 lbs. I'm wondering if I would also do l200mg. per day or less. Does anyone know ?
Yeah the prefilled are great. I would not like to have to mix or measure anything.  Wink

Hey Marina,

I weight around 155, I only take 800mg a day (4 pills 200mg)

It probably depends on what your dr thinks.

OK, I called CVS Procare and they do not do the 'prefilled' syringes.  They mentioned that they are unsure of the 'life cycle' of the meds as we store the prefilled in our refrigerators so they opted not to do it.
Oh well, I guess we're gonna have to teach this old dog new tricks!

Take care,
