Sergie,

I bought some Sophora Root Powder a couple of years back. It was a chocolate color and very, very bitter.

Tom,
I know it is bitter I tried sophora root extract as well.
But oxymatrine in pure concentration should be white. I am more concerned about my powder like oxymatrine which naturally burns tongue when
you try it. There is definetely some oxymatrine as there is specific sophora root bitter taste in it but this burning feeling makes me worrying about my stomach
and possiblilities that something else in there.
I thought that may be somebody who tried pure oxymatrine was as curious as me and tasted it and could comment on it.
In google where you usually can find everything literally no feedback on oxymatrine experience only Chinese sites that promote it.
I feel myself like Guinea Pig belonging to Chinese  lab.
Thanks for your reply

Sergei,  I also got two types of white powder - one from Alchemistlab, and one from a Chinese website (will have to look for it and let you know the name).  Sounds like you have the same two.  I broke open the capsule and tasted one, which as you say was very bitter and burned my tongue.  I also became concerned about it, and decided to opt for the white tiger brand of sophora root, which contains 20% oxymatrine and because it is the whole root, I considered it more organic.  It didn't work, however.  The one from Alchemistlab is the one that made me feel so good I thought it must have cortisone in it.  I suggest you write to Alchemistlab and ask them about it, although as far as I know they import it from China.  I'm not taking anything else unless I monitor it carefully so that I know exactly what is doing what.  Maybe this virus needs a big kick in the butt, and the white powder is clearly a lot stronger.  I'd like to speak to some people who have actually taken it though before I put my liver on the line again.  Its obviously an alkaloid, and will therefore burn, and there's not enough information or case histories to know if it is safe.

I emailed to Alchemistlab so may be they give me more information on the subject.
I am still taking it and will be continue until my next blood test.

Good luck Sergei, it may be that the more concentrated form is the way to go.  Hope it works for you - if so I may be tempted to give the stronger stuff a go since I've already got some here.

Oh - by the way Sergei, the other oxymatrine was called 'proteliv' from the Bevigour website.  That's the one I tasted and it nearly peeled the inside of my throat off!

Any updates on the efficacy of this product?

I ran into a site hepatitiscfree.com that sells 100 of the 300mg capsules of oxymatrine for $25.  Sounds fairly cheap considering that's over a month's supply @ 900mg/day.

I just e-mailed the site, wondering if the powder is pure oxymatrine, without fillers.  If so, it would theoretically be suitable for reconstitution and injection after micron filtration(just to be safe).  However, the only studies I can find on this are websites claiming success in this or that country, and half of them are selling the product(IE, propaganda).  Nothing concrete.  There is a chance I could have time to experiment, however.  At $25 for a month's supply, I'd consider playing the guinea pig.  I've adminstered hundreds of IM/SC/ID injections, so I am not concerned with my ability to self-administer.

Does anyone here have first hand experience with injection of oxymatrine to treat hep c?

How about oral dosing of pure oxymatrine?  I see several peeps swallowed tablets or capsules of the herb or herb extract, tho nothing about ingesting pure oxymatrine.

I had no luck with oxymatrine and my alt/ast almost doubled while taking the stuff. Can't say for sure if it was responsible because I haven't blood drawn since.

I wouldn't recommend anyone taking it, so be careful.

Thank you for the quick reply, Tom.  I think I will just stick with a few herbals I was plan on trying and leave out the oxymatrine.  The evidence of this treating HCV isn't strong enough for me to outweigh the risk of doing more damage.
