Thought I would relate my experience with C; IVs and oral, hope that it gives some insight into what goes on. After hearing many times that c would deal effectively with hcv, I began at first, to take it orally (ascorbic acid is best for oral) and immediately got some benefits with stamina and strength, and improved appearance.
I had also had previous exper. with IVs and gotten normal results, so doing my own IVs was the next logical step. I began to do 80 grams in each bag each day for approx 21 days, got more improvement, from the swelling, uncomfortable feeling in liver area. Breathing deep breaths was another bonus. Having a feeling of wellness, another. I continued to take oral c, and IVs each night, usually about 40 to 50 grams. After about 6 months, I developed insomnia, and my stools became claylike, but still had the other benefits, so I continued on another 6 months. After seeing not much more improvement, I began to skip days and did only 2-3 per week, maintaining the oral. I also tried other means of support, with diet, herbs, etc.
In the end, the c seemed to have little effect, other that toxicity,- hope that won't be taken out of context, because I believe that the amount of synthetic c, and my own inability to process it with this liver, is probably the reason for the results. I spoke with a HCP, and she made the point   that, with 35 years of this  thing, there has to be some damage, and the c is just not going to overcome. So a few million miligrams later, my blood work is all pretty well normal, but the alts were 80 - 240, so I cut back on that plan and switched to accupunture, and Zhangs herbs, and almost immediatly my digestion is corrected.
The other thing that may be of interest is that I never did have kidney (stones?) problems, or the iron overload even with this much; yes, I hear that this happens with only some people who are susceptible.
All in all, I think C is essential, but how, how much, and how long, have to be worked out.  The other thing that is probably essential is the food derived c, as much as is possible. Nowadays, I just do small amounts of IVs, only 10-20 grams a week if any. One more thing; I also lift weights, and the c IVs always prevented soreness, and recovery was faster. Somedays, I would work out for a couple hours, and then work construction all the rest of the day, and only be normally tired. That was a welcomed benefit, as well.

My son brought home a box of E-mergenc-C's. They come in envelopes that you mix with water and make a fizzy drink for his cold and bronchitis. It seems to have lifted his symptoms along with the fact that he works out hardest to sweat out these bugs. He is a boxer and spars a couple of times a week. He rides through these things really well when others would pull the covers over their heads. Of course, he has the ever-ready bunny energy from being young. I started making a drink a day for myself and I do feel a lift of energy. Haven't done it for very long so who knows, but I always do best with easily absorbed edible forms of vitamins and such. It seems that giving yourself an IV is yet another mini-trauma to your body. Do you put it into your veins? I would worry about collapsing veins too.

Hello Mom, yes, IVs can have a upside, in that they can alter the viral load, and decrease high inflamation, but the liver still has to process a synthetic, and you  are basically using it as a drug. They also will lessen the amount of ammonia and lactic acid in the blood, making for faster recovery from trauma, and excercise., and brain fog.  Now I know first hand the delimna, I will be using this therapy sparingly. I am through with trying to be a virus hunter.
