I know this is late sending of a reply - oh well - what aren't I late for lately. My Vit.D was very low, low enough that I was ordered to take supplements.  Funny thing is the first was so hideous I used Lactose as a chaser. The 2nd one was in gel-cap form, but I read the directions wrong. I took one caplet, once a month instead of one a day. Sheeesh, but it turned out that it's no longer problem. I get probably too much sun, eat more foods wit D,(did the same with calcium, though I do take an Oscal a day. Turns out my numbers on both D and calcium evened right up!

My tp team was a little shocked, happily, when they read the findings that had been done twice in case.  Now i can finally get the infusion of Boniva, lasts 2-3 months depending on changes in weight and concentration. I know that direct sunlight as it's own set of problems, so a good big hat, or VERY light clothes for created mostly for people with skin cancer for both my mom and a good friend. Totally SPF protection with no rashes - I get them with sunblock - even swim suits. There are a number of offers on the internet if you look for sunblock protective clothing. You could probably also find brochures at a cancer clinic or ask your docs. It's the best of both worlds.

My daughter could never tolerate sunblock - I've always thought it was cause ocean water got stuck under the creams, etc so I had my kid wear hats, t-shirts, and shorts and it seemed to do the trick. When I told the pediatrician, she was satisfied with the result because it didn't mess with their vit. D intake.

Worked for us, maybe it will help you.

Susie...the Vit D I take is also in a gel-cap. Initially I took it weekly for 2 months and now take it monthly. Been on it since March and my level has improved but below the "suggested" level. I think mine dropped as a combination of meds, having lost a load of weight on treatment and the vegtarianism. I hope all turns out well for you. Seems like when one thing goes wrong, the doctors then find another thing and another thing. Endless.
