A lot of boards allow one to edit a post.  Being one whose fingers don't keep with his brain, I often have little typos, some which dramatically change the meaning.
Yes, I can review and proof, but I often miss that too.

I don't see an option to edit.  Is it disabled?

And profiles...

I have yet to find one that I can view.  Given all that is share here, it doesn't seem like remaining anonymous is an issue for many.  Are they blocked by default?  I just like to learn a little about the folks who are willing to share and am not sure if they turn off access, the board does, or I'm missing a setting.

Thanks.

Drobie, yes we do allow it but people have to make a few posts and go the next step to a junior member to be allowed.  It's oml;y been like that for about 6 months or so.

Here's the rationale;

We were getting swamped with spammers and other types of non members.  Why might a member join but not post?  So they could examine peoples "profiles" and possibly harvest the e-mail addresses.  So while we usually recommend that people leave their contact information hidden (the default setting is hidden) even if they allow it new members can't access it.  10 posts or so (I'll have to check) and this stuff will become accessible to you.  It's all about trying to protect our members.  After you hit the junior member mark you'll be able to modify any of your posts.

best,
Willy

It's actually 25 posts.  It's pretty easy to do and somehow we need to keep private information away from people who harvest it and sell e-mail addresses and such to spammers.  It's abit like a vaccination; a little bit of pain  for a big pay-off.

best,

 Grin Grin

Just kidding of course and apologies for the bandwidth abuse.  It's my father's fault.  I inherited his corny sense of humor.

Thanks for the help.  I slapped myself up the side of the head with a 2x4 over the "Modify" button.  That was after it poked me in the eye.

The security makes sense.  I have a spam filter that collects about 80 on a busy day.  Generally 40 or so on regular days.

Cheers.
