"It ain't braggin' if you done it." - Dizzy Dean

Hi all -
Saw this on the news the day after Thanksgiving and then it was totally dropped. It makes a statement about all that's wrong with the whole immigration in my opinion. It certainly made me feel ashamed for all those who weren't.

(((Momma)))

Try not to be too bothered or ashamed.  As citizens we no longer make the rules or laws.  Angels can deal with anything and this young fellow was definitely the little boy's Angel.

Mom,

I live in Arizona...it wasn't dropped from local news here, Mom.  The guy in the story was recognized for his acts, was was honored by local government officials & such.  Joyce is right; Angels are real, and they do Gods bidding.

Thanks for letting us know, Mom.  I had read that too and was appalled at what they did to him.   It is absolurely amazing, how hard we can be as Americans, some times.

Illegal immigration is one of those things like the death penalty...there will never be an agreement on how to handle the situation. I'm all for people trying to improve their situation but still feel that as a coupnty...we need some kind of checks and balances. It's sad for those who want a better life to not be able to achieve it but I see the problem as there are so many that come here and don't make a sincere attempt to improve their situation but rather feel it is their right to come here and have a child so it will be a citizen and we will pay for it to be born, educated and provide medical care or who bring crime involvement to the communities. That tends to really slant how people as a whole view the honest immigrants. We know that there is good and bad in all groups of people but when those who are here legally and lawfully suffer through higher taxes, difficulty supporting their own family adequatly and our elderly having a hard time putting food on the table...it makes it hard to do want to open the doors for anyone who finds life here easier than where they were born. Look at all we do for so many under-developed countries and still...no matter how many dollars we put into them...it will never be enough. Guess this is sounds like a rant but don't mean it to. Just looking at both sides of the situation...and really don't have a strong view on it. We need a legal route to achieve a balance that is workable. How to achieve that...I don't know...keep your spirits high...robin

We lived 12 miles from the Mexican line for 7 years, North of Columbus New Mexico. We used Braceros to help with the farm work, As a whole they were good people. I have some happy memories of that trime in my life. We had a cotton farm. We were right on the highway, at night the wetbacks would come byon foot. the next morning the Border Patrol would stop and ask us what time the dogs barked. The wets soon learned to walk around our place to the east. At that time the Farm Bureau contrated the braceros and we got them from the Bureau. Most of the time they were good hands, They were paid 50 cents an hr, the tractor drivers got more. They could live off of less than $10 worth of groceries a week. They would send most of it home to thier families.  Just another veiw of what happened 40 years ago. jody13

We have the legal migrant workers here.  Man if I had a business with about ten of 'em working for me I could own the world.  They live several to a one bedroom place and send 90% of their money home to Mexico for their families.  You rarely see where they have caused even the most minor of incidences.  The work they do would kill most of us.  You bend over and pick squash off the ground all day long.  The really good pickers can make a hundred a day.  If not for them we'd be paying a ton for produce.  Plus you know what, no way you'd find us gringo's working a job like that.  They absolutely are not taking anyone's job rather they are doing jobs no one else wants.

Having also lived near the border much of my life, Texas, New Mexico, California (well Minnesota too but them there Canadian migrant workers ain't worth a hoot.) the illegals work those same jobs for the most part.

Personally I think we'd be much better off spending a trillion or so on our southern neighbors, get them up and running and in good financial shape.  Seems to me that would be one heck of a lot better return on investment then sending troops to Iraq.  We would also then not have to worrk about illegals, they wouldn't need to come.

The problem is the second and third generation immigrants who have become Americanized. WE create our own problems. Keep your spirits high..robin

PS...I still feel they deserve the make the same wage that an American would make. It's like paying women less than men.

Wages, The American people wouldn't do the work that the Mexican workers do. . When they get Americaized it ruins their work ethics of the men  The main thing wrong with both governments is corruption. Ours is just hidden a little better. If the US goernment would set up a work program like they used to have, it would stop a lot of the illeagals. They could come over leagally. The Drug trade is the fault of the people using drugs. If there were no demand the drugs would stop flowing. and that goes right back to us as parents. It is easy to blame every body else. One son that was in the navy, used Pot all the time. Jody
