I have a rash that comes and goes on my lower legs and I trhink it is caused by C virus but the skin doctors don't think so. I have it break out all over sometimes it breaks out on my back  and my wrists. The med doctors say they don't know if it is connected to my liver problems. Has any body else had this problem? . Right now I'm taking several herbs but It is still here , not bad , Would appreciate feed back . Jody13

Jody, I have more skin issues in the winter.  You and I are both in cold dry climates (in the winter, that is).  I almost end up with a rash but it is due to ( I think) dry skin.

1) dry climate-low humidity
2) Drinking less H20 and instead, more diuretics like coffee and tea
3) It's freezing cold here and so I take longer and hotter showers (which drys the skin)

This is common for many people as they age.  I also suspicion that my fat and oil intake is way lower than most peoples and that my skin may show it; particularly in the winter.  Adding vit E or buying taking additional flax seed oil might be the ticket.

The water/ dry skin thing is an issue for many aging people without regard to HCV and much more likely.  The "cure" for either is pretty simple though and might be worth a try.

best,
Willy

Hi Jody this is a common side from Hep this is what drove jb to get dx...Jb has scars on his arms and legs where he scratched so much.... Roll Eyes..not sure what would help you...

To save me trawling thru your posts can you tell me more about yourself...reason you taking herbs..?....geno type..?...Liver damage..?..Hope you don`t mind it difficult to give advise if I don`t know.....PXX

BTW ..Bloody Doctors if I had a pound for every person I know with the itchys from hep I could retire...

Sorry Doug, I know you are on TX and have a queasy stomach.  Naw, my skin doesn't look like some kind of pizza.  What I meant to convey is that my skin does get dry in the winter, it resolves in the summer, and that any itching that I do makes it look as if I have a rash.  My diet stays largely the same except per the hot drinks and it all resolves when the humidity and temperature rise.

It could be age related, seasonal, external irritants via something at work home or something old latent like exposure to agent orange or something internal like having a virus like HCV.

I just stuck with one of the most common possibilities during the winter.

I have to agree with Willy. I have this problem only in the winter so I dont think it has anything to do with my Hep.
But jody if you have it all the time then it certainly could be the virus.

Pixie, My hep is 2 and 2, The rash if had for several years close to 20 I guess. I got so bad years a go I took a clorox  bath with lysol to kill the "virus" It really slowed it up so now it is just a never ending pain in the but. Even my hep doctor isn't sure if my liver is the reason. They need to ask some one else. You guys know from the best teacher. experience.  I use hand cream on my back part of the time. I tnink this started in Texas when working in the oil fields years ago. Just froma cut on my shins.  I take several herbs , one is milk thistle and there are seeral more. That post Negative wrote scares the hell out of me about TX. Joe

Jody...are you on treatment? I don't think the hep will cause the rash but certainly the ribavirin will cause a booger of a rash. Keep your spirits high...robin

Jody,

Earl's story is just one side of the treatment story.  You have to give equal credence to each story.   What happened to Earl is horrible and it's reality but it's not the reality for all.   I went in a totally different direction as Earl previously pointed out.  I didn't have a single neuro pysych issue during my entire 48 weeks of round 1.  All my sides were physical.  I recovered enough from them to start a second round of treatment.  And there are those like Pixie and JustBlue who pretty  much breeze through treatment.

There's at least 8 different sides to the treatment angle.

Just for those of you that don't know..... Jody is in his 60's and is treatment naive.  To the best of my knowledge, he has only done alternatives.
