This forum is more for the act of writing itself; expository writing, poetry, creative writing; that sort of thing.
Writing about a trip or event would be fine in the upper "News, Friends, Prayers" etc, forum but a description of your trip, the motivations involved in taking it and what you discovered would fit into this forum as welll Jody. I'll bet the trip was great even if you didn't get the gold payoff. If you haven't done it yet I hope you hit the jackpot.

As long as they rhyme or use iambic parameter...
Always need a good storyteller.....
make sure it has pirates and wenches and bawdy songs....
