Wow...Joyce, do you think it was your liver biopsy that caused the pain? They didn't tell me anything other than to take it easy for 24 hours. I worked the next day and I did a lot of pulling and lifting at work and didn't have any problems. That stinks that you had pain 3 days later. DANG, girl. Keep your spirits high...robin

Hi Gang -

I think part of why I succeeded with SSI was that all my docs sent in letters on my behalf - I had already had the herniated disc repair, but was still in rehab, the kidney stones were ongoing and it was before starting tx. I also had1 child at home, 1 in college whose primary home was ours, and 1 who would be moving back in. I wasn't given a huge reward - basically it helped me pay my insurance premium with a little felt over for copays. I didn't get health benefits but found out that I could receive discounted rates for dental which was not covered under my insurance and it is a dental clinic, not private office. All in all, I've always suspected I lucked out - which like the lottery, only works if you try.

Be well and good luck to all,
Susie

Susie...how did you get dental benefits? I have checked and it would take about $4000 a year in dental costs to override the cost of carrying insurance. Is there a discounted dental chain...if so, I'd love to use it. Are you not elgible for Medicare?  I know it is also expensive...I pay about $400 a month for Medicare, my supplemental and prescription plan but it is soooo worth it. I did have my insurance from work until I became elgible for Medicare, which helped. Keep your spirits high...robin
