why me??

« on: August 01, 2008, 02:17:54 AM »

For the record.....I'm a sceptic when it comes to miracles and am turned off by the name of this alternative cure, but out of desperation with mainstream treatment not offering me more than a 50% chance of recovery, I'm going for the "miracle".

When I heard of this MMS thru a friend, I researched [googled] testimonials, reviews, cautions, on many  [alternative] medicine forums and web sites.  Mostly I found positive [but un scientific] testimonials and few cautions.  I skimmed Jim Humbel's book and it is obvious that he is neither a scientist or author, but may have accidentally 'stumbled' onto something that works.

I have been in denial with my condition for the last couple of years, being distracted by my family and life, but after reading about MMS, I was inspired to at least get a liver check-up and document the condition before i start treatment and will go into MMS treatment conservatively [according to the vague directions offered and keep a daily journal to document any changes...then at 3 months after treatment, I will return to get follow-up tests to see if there is any change and post my results.

My history in brief.....7+ years ago during a routine med exam, I was tested positive for Hep C.  Genotype 1a [the most prevalent in North America and the hardest to cure].  Two years later I went thru the biopsy and found viral load of 900K.  yearly blood tests have revealed increasing liver enzyme levels...latest being AST 63 and ALT 77.
Ultrasound revealed liver is normal in size, but diffuse coarsening of liverparenachymal, which 'could be early cirrhotic change'  The first time they used the term cirrhotic and what prompted me to get serious.
I'm 61 yrs old and decent health....little fatigue and slightly overweight at 72kilos. Ultrasound also revealed gall stones and multiple kidney stones.......maybe I'm not in decent health after all [?].....but I don't feel bad.
I assume that I contracted my hepC while getting vaccinated in the military or in getting a tattoo, during my teen age years.  That's 40+yrs that I've had this evil monster lurking inside me!
I've done a few drugs in my younger years and have had my bouts with alcohol and after turning 50, I slowed down my indulgences.

My reason for posting such detailed history is that I found details [re: hep C treatment] to be lacking on the various other alternative health forums that have the positive testimonials on MMS.  Hopefully my trial will be successful and will encourage others in my condition to go thru the MMS treatment and post their detailed reports so that we all can benefit.  If it doesn't work [for me], that doesn't mean that it won't work for you.  I'm entering this trial with an open mind and will post as many details as i can that seem relevant.

Wish me luck!! and feel free to comment or question.

MMS, Let us Know how it works, If there is a fear of tumors you could take an herb called graviola, that shrinks tumors of most types. I had 3 of them and they shrunk up and went away. jody13

Day three and up to 6 drops and no effect....good or bad or different.  Will spare you guys the 'no effect' days in future posts and will only post if something changes.  Been reading lots of conflicting reports on these two [alternative med] forums

why me??

« Reply #4 on: August 07, 2008, 05:08:47 PM »

yesterday was Day 7 and I had worked up to 12 drops.....then it hit me, nausea, diarhea, cramps, chills, sweats and the foulest taste in my mouth.  After sh#ting my guts out, I called my MMS guru and told him that I had reached my limit and he said that it's the MMS doing it's thing and to back off a couple of drops when I felt better. Altho it passed after 4 hrs, I still had that foul taste in my mouth and felt totally drained from the diareha, and reduced my evening dose to 8 drops and woke up feeling normal again, but with still loose bowels.
Read that what I was [maybe] experiencing was a 'Herxheimer reaction'.
I'll slowly increase my dose from 8 drops and see what happens.  Not giving up yet!!

Thanks for the update, expat....

Hoping your MMS sx abate. Guess whatever protocol we decide to follow, be it SOC or alts or a basic healthy lifestyle, we're guinea pigs in the long term. And I have the utmost respect for whatever avenue one decides to take. I wish there were a test like a diabetes home test where we could assess our livers more frequently and affordably....

Keep us posted!

Isn't it strange, the mindset that we aren't "curing" something unless it makes us sick.

At day 13 on MMS, I slowly worked myself up to 12 drops after having a setback [herx?] at day 8 and backed off to 8 drops and now back up to 12.
Yesterday i went into the hospital and got my 'mid term exam' [liver blood tests] and was disapointed to see an increase in my ALT/AST. Where's the miracle??
before starting MMS 2 weeks ago, my AST was 63 and ALT 77 and ALK.PHOS.80....now ALT 69 and AST 99 and ALK.PHOS. 161 [double]. these increases are more than I have had over a several year period between testing in the past, and i have cut my alcohol down to one glass.day from 5.
I don't know exactly what this means and if these values vary day to day in normal humans, or affected by diet, sleep or maybe lab technicians or maybe detoxing??, but it does make me want to re-evaluate MMS as a 'miracle cure' for HEP-C.
Thanks Sheryl for suggesting that I get these tests. cost for the complete 'liver function' tests was around $30 and can be less if i specify only ALT/AST/ALK.PHOS.

Anyway, for me...it's time to back off from this MMS and hope that it didn't do me any permanent damage.

I strongly urge others to go to the effort to have baseline testing before starting this '[MAGIC?] MIRACLE MINERAL SUPPLIMENT' [or any other alternative tx]. as well as during tx and especially after tx and share your experiences on this and other forums.

You owe it to yourselves and others that may follow you as well!! These undocumented testimonials of a cure for everything CAN DO HARM, IMHO.

I think that I can honestly say that I was a good little gunea pig......
and I wish others the best of luck in their treatments, but beware of 'miracles', tooth ferry's and santa clause...they don't exist in the real adult world.

any educated or experienced comments, explinations or ideas why this happened would be appreciated.

ps,
I still have dandruff and a couple of sebacious cysts that haven't changed a bit.and my teeth are no different.

Just my experience.......

Im sorry to hear your alt/ast levels have risen.  Undecided
I have to tell you I am ALWAYS wary of "testimonials" and would only believe in them if it were someone I actually knew and they did well. If these were miracle cures none of us would be infected. I however DO believe there is a better way to cure the dragon with something other  than the standard Tx. available, just that we havent found it yet. And I truley Beileve its in the not to distant future.

I wanted to add ( and Im sure your aware ) that drinking any amount of alcohol daily is a really big no no with Hep., actually any amount is bad. You may want to really try and stop that for the most part anyway. I didnt have any alcohol whatsoever for over 2 years after dx. but since have had a glass or 2 of champagne on New years and a margeurita or 2 on my Birthday. Certainly its your choice but if your a stage 3 you really should consider cutting it out all together or at least to just special occasions.

Good luck and please stay with us and keep us informed on how your doing.  Smiley

Bummer that you didnt get to the 30 drop guarantee point, I thank ya for posting. I do think there is high hopes for MMS. Does anyone even know of  values varing form day to day, I mean 13 days? doesnt seem like much time to test also a drink a day? I think it needs more investigation.
