At what intervals do they check liver blood?? and what is the normal course of the liver enzyme readings....all decreasing thruout tx?? and do they use any other test results or is it only liver enzymes?
The interval depends to a large extent on the doctor and on the results. My doc, for example, wanted monthly labs if all was more or less normal, but I worked up to weekly labs due to low red counts. Very quickly after starting treatment, ALT/AST will go to normal and tend to stay there during tx. As I noted earlier, failure to do so is cause for concern. And exactly what tests and what results also depends to a large extent on the doctor. My doc always ordered CBC, LFT, VL, and for good measure couple of tests for tumor markers. The two major ones, as to tx, are VL and LFT. If VL does not drop, it flat isn't working. Major test periods, 4 weeks, 12 weeks. From those two you can determine whether to quit tx or continue.
It's early, but I think that's it.
