i have one more question when you ask for a hep c test and they give you one do they just look for antibodies in your blood? and if so is this accurate enough to tell if i have hep c or should me and my children get more tests?

Yes the test is for the presence of antibodies and yes it is all you need.  It's a tad too sensitive and gives lots of false positives, but if it shows negative you're clear.
