I put together a youtube video of homeless people based on pictures a photographer in SF.  The video caption has a link to the photographer's photos.  I hope all are doing well.  My health is good -- knock on wood.

What an incredible work. A compilation of some of the most driftwood-like faces, and the eyes are shimmering with age and time, in deep gazes that make me wonder what they were thinking and what those eyes have seen. It's just amazing to see so many smiles, knowing how hard life has been on them. Not surprising to see a lot of anger, and fear, and so little hope in the bottomless pools of their eyes.

Great choice of background music, bro. Willy is an American classic. Excellent work, bro. Magnificent faces. I stayed in missions and ate in soup kitchens in Frisco years ago. Not the most entertaining life, but you meet some very interesting folks. Some crazies, too. I went there expecting the old Haight Ashbury type of street life, and found, much to my disillusionment, that San Francisco had gone gay. Bummer. I did great with the chicks, though, some of them had actually never met a straight guy, so I was something of an oddity, entirely masculine in the way girls appreciate it. I can say that there are some real hot chicks there. The cost of living is insane though. I went back on a business trip in the 90's and drove everywhere, checking out as much as I could while there. This time I had a rental car and hotel room, and an expense account. It hadn't changed much over the years. Still had a lot of homeless. But they have the best soup kitchens and missions there, even if they only allow you to sleep there 3 nights in a row. But then you just go to another one before they close their doors for the night. They're sort of like a hostel, like one I stayed in when I was in Amsterdam, only a little mustier, and with a lot more loud snoring going on all night long.

Thanks for sharing that, bro. God bless.

Kind of makes you feel "guilty" for having stuff when so many don't share the basics like food on the table and protection from the elements. Great photography and the choice of black and white over color was remarkable. Keep your spirits high...robin

Real good, Don't you wonder what stories go behind these faces. The pain and problems they have had and still do. It makes you apreciate what we do have for sure. Some i'm sure were winos but not all and now it is getting worse. Good old Bush , He deserves a lot of the credit. Jody13

What should Bush do after he leaves office?

How about working, full time, in a VA hospital in Texas?

Any politician could gain insight by working in any homeless shelter. Jody, the homeless era began with Reagan. . . Bush just finished the job.

Robin, I wonder if we should feel a bit guilty.

PS I enjoyed the background music

I also enjoyed this version. . .   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPMxJROHInM&feature=related

Ohhhh, the stories that could be told, from behind those eyes.  What with the economy the way it is right now, I am sure that we will be seeing a lot more of those faces on the streets.  It breaks my heart.  Thanks for Sharing with us.  Since my kids and grands won't be around for the holidays, this year, I just might have to get off of this old rusty butt of mine and go volunteer in one of the kitchens downtown.  Good suggestion...

Hugs, Squeaker
