Gingerale helps a lot.

Call your doctor and ask if he can prescribe you an anti-nauseant such as Phenegran or Compazine (I take phenegran).  You're probably going to feel lazy for the entire time you are on treatment.   You need to get your kids to help you even if you just sit and point to let them know what needs to be done.   I can't clean my house in 1 day like I used to so what I do is I clean 2 rooms a day (takes me 3 hours just to accomplish this) and set a day aside to do my floors (I actually move furniture once a week so it take me a half a day to get my floors done).  Slow and steady is all you can do when on tx.

I can remember myself saying I wish I was in a comma for the entire time.  I let the dust collect for the entire time which was only 6 months for me.  My family helped out a lot but nothing like I would do.  It was something I just had to overlook.  When your use to doing everything yourself no one can do it any better, I had to get over it.  Taking care of the nausea and eating was the priority for the day.  I had trouble eating so I bought the boost drink and yogurt.  Fruit I could handle but only two tablespoons of food.  Hopefully you can down more than that.  If you keep loosing the doc will probably recommend the pills for appedite boost.  Its the marijuna in pill form, and I cannot remember the name.  I lost 20 or more, 110 down to 88 that is when I really started to pay attention to six small meals.  Peanut butter with lots jelly too.  Anything that was easy.

Guess we're all different, but I could always eat ice cream. Soup was generally pretty easy on the stomach also. I stayed away from the harder to digest foods. I stopped the coffee altogether. Hope things get better for you soon.

Oh wow, I am totally feeling what you are going through.  Tx is hell but if you kill the ol beast that is inside you, it is all worth it.  It doesn't have to be just water.  Gatorade, juices, ginger ales, 7up.  Just make sure that you get a lot of fluid.  Rest and sleep all
that you can.  Believe me, your body needs it all to make it through this.  Spoil yourself and if you have other people to help you, let them help.

Wings (Sheila)  I am so glad that you found it over to here.  Yippeee....Glad to see you, Sis...  The other sheila aka Squeaker

I am so glad you directed me in good hands Smiley Whatever you need to do to slay the dragon right?

Pancho:  I did do the ice cream for diner probably once a week at least sometimes more.  It normally was banna split soft vanila ice cream.  I was loosing so much weight the sugar didnt matter but I didnt want to go into diabedic either.   But it was just the fact that I was eating ice cream for dinner,  felt so wrong but it was so right Smiley

Hard to keep up with the various posts.. In another thread, I was just saying congrats on shot#2 not being so bad, Itsme... but today you're feeling badly.. I'm so sorry.

Missy's right about the gingerale and also if you can tolerate something sweet or semisweet, gingersnaps are good too.  I use to have really dry mouth and couldn't eat crackers but as hard as the snaps were, they didn't dry out my mouth.

Hugs,
Kat

I always feel horrible when I have to say I did not feel horrible on tx. I almost wish I had some bouts of nausea so that I could say what I did.

While I did think like you, I could afford to lose a few lbs, I did not. I was more concerned with getting something in me, anything at all, because I figured I needed to be strong to make it through tx.

I was never one who had much of an appetite, and really did not have cravings for certain foods, but on tx, the thought of eating bothered me. I just did not want to. What I did was make some deals with myself - eat tiny amounts lots of times, or as often as I could.

I found that many of the foods I normally ate tasted horrible or like nothing, like eating newspaper or some old shoes. I just kept trying all sorts of foods, foods I had never had before, just about anything, until I hit on things that did not taste bad, and could stay down.

I ended up on a diet of smoothies and juices. There was next to no hot food that I liked or could eat. If I could toss it into the blender, I would go with that. I tried salad a couple times and had a total body rebellion to salad. I got awful killer painful cramps from any sort of salads, and they came out of me faster than they went in. To this day, I am hesitant to eat salad, and it's been years now since I finished tx.

Yes, the water is the most important thing IMO for alot of the sides, but with food, you just have to keep trying things, and nevermind if it's fattening. If you can keep ice cream down, eat that for 48weeks!
You can worry about all that calorie stuff later!

I sure hope you are feeling better soon. Often the beginning is rough and it settles down after the first month or so.

Forgot about the Ensure.

I absolutely could not tolerate the taste of Ensure so my GI suggested Carnation Instant Breakfast with WHOLE MILK for me ... and even told me to toss in a scoop of ice cream from time to time if I wanted (trust me, I did it more than from "time to time").   Walmart's brand of instant breakfast actually has more protien in it than Carnation's.

itseme,
if i had to do this all over again,
i would seek out a script for medical marijuana;
and if you can't get it or afford to buy it, maybe a script
for marinol, a pill that contains the same properties
but without "the buzz" ...
it really helps with nauseau, cramps and stimulates the
appetite.  i made it through tx with too many drugs
that i then got addicted to and had to wean off ...
i was never afflicted with GT problems, but i had
a ton of aches and pains and headaches ...
get some friends to bring you food and help clean up;
it can get overwhelming ...
hopefully you'll start getting used to the whole thing
and you'll feel well enough to manage ... good luck!
