I started in in the summer on 08 and go so sick i was hospitalized. now I'm getting ready to start again if the liver team ok's it, I've read about it, can you offer any suggestions that i might try to help with side effects. I tried everything from my other tx's but this hit like a ton of bricks,,,,but i got some funny stores out of it I thought. My poor family can't see any humor in all this but they all live far away,so they are scared i know.dyanpaintedlady

Consensus seems to be addressing and treating all other health issues prior to tx. Were you not able to tolerate tx the first time around?

What prevented you from finishing?

What measures have you taken to ensure those problems don't interrupt your next tx?

Have you been tested for and have you controlled any insulin resistance issues you may have?

Do you have any autoimmune disorders that may cause problems?

What supports do you have in place? Do you plan on becoming a regular member here and/or on other forums?

Do you exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet?

Do you have deep and underlying faith that you will be able to walk through any difficulty tx may present?

If all of the above is a go. . . dealing with the sides won't be such a big deal. There is plenty of support here for those who reach out for it.

best wishes,

Max

I'm not sure if I am suppose to answer your questions but I never find anybody that I can write to. This was the 1st time on Infergen ( 5th time doing tx which I comleted,1 time for 2 yrs straight in a study) This time everything was in place. I had quit work like they said. I have lots of friends, checked out medically insulins leval etc. I go to lots of 12step meetings , sponser, work the steps, service  etc. Took all meds, see my therapist etc. My house was in order. BY time my friend called the amulance I didn't know my name, where i lived, I was in acute panic , couldn't walk, no feeling in my legs, got on the wrong plane ets. A war story. They took me off the medicine. I eat well, excercise, rest but have terrible sleep problems. I'm having a sleep study done the 26th. What gets me thru is my spiritual faith. In almost 29 yrs I have walked, been carried many times. But I'm always open feedback of any kind. The Transplant team is deciding when/if i try it again, this I will accept to. In the mean time I'll keep writing. I tried to write directly to you but it said i can't see your profile.

Hey Lady,

Not sure exactly what your question is, I did however do a round on infergen/Riba so if there is anything specific about it please ask I might accidentally know the answer.

As far as sides, many report less sides with infergen then with the pegylated version, theory being with daily injections you have more even serum levels.  I found virtually no difference between the two but then I had only red blood counts as issue at that is RIBA not IFN.

As for specifics of how to avoid, what issues did you have with the peg?  For me biggest trick was drink all the dang water your supposed to, weight divided by two (oz per day).  If I didn't things would start to happen, if I did I sailed merrily on my way, stopping at every bathroom in a hundred mile radius.

As for shots or odd side effects nothing either way, all pretty easy there.

Hi Lady...another question here  Huh, were you ever evaluated for any type of psychiatric disorders that could add to the problems you encountered. I know of someone who had some bi-polar issues and the meds put their actions over the top, you could say. You have done treatment 5 times unsuccessfully or did I get that wrong? What kind of study were you in? Any possibility of getting into one of the PI studies? The best to you and keep your spirits high...robin

Robin, Yes i had stated that I take anti-depressants for PTSD with severe Panic Attacks. It never intered with all the other tx's Yes I've done 4 sets for 48 weeks each, i always go negetive then by 3-6 monthes it comes back. I was transferred to the live DR in PHX and he tried two txs back to make for 2 yrs to see if prolonged use(pegiterfgon & pasegy) would work so such luck. I'm glad you wrote. Tell me about you that info at the bottom of the page sounds like you've had a transplant, is that so? How are you doing? I did you put that on your message and what to all the things aon the right sign of the screen tell me about members? I'm lost. Thank you for writing. dyan
