Cry  Hi, it's Mindy, I went to see my liver dr. in Feb.  He is the head of Liver ctr. in Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia.  Right now I am not considered a clinical trial eliglible person for the vortex or other trials in Philly.  I had a seizure on July 17, 2008 and Einstein Neurology told me I had to stay on a medication called Keppra for six months to keep my drivers license.  My liver doc told me that the keppra drug would stop me from being considered guiney pig material.  I stayed on the Keppra and saw a different neurologist two weeks ago and he looked more in depth at the cat scan from July of 2008 and said there is a small leision (spelling) in my brain, not just scare tissue from banging my head when I went in coma.  I could have another seizure at any time or not at all but it is what it is.  The neurologist knows my liver doc and said when the clinical trials are FDA Approved the keppra will not bother the tx.  My heart is scared because after the 48 weeks of pegasyst and then the 70 weeks of pegintron, in my case the virus remains undetectable but then it breaks thru.  So now the virus is eating my liver and I celebrated 1 year in A.A on 6/24/09 will have seven years clean from heroin on Nov. 10, 2009 but it really hurts mentally to worry that my adorable twins and my son may not have a mom if I don't last before these drugs are FDA Approved.  I saw what MISSY put on the a post for clinical trials in PA, they are as hard to get into as anywhere else.  I pray for all of us in this program, the A.A. program and the people who are still sick and suffering.  One Day At A Time.  mindy

Mindy,

I sure didn't post to offer any answers. I did notice you 'celebrated' 1 year in AA. Good for you. For me, all celebrations involve celebrating life. . . and if you're celebrating being alive, life is good.

Also noticed you were taking things ODAT (one day at a time). The wisest people I know live in the moment, focus on the here and now, take time to celebrate life, and always remember to have some fun along the way.

So, it seems to me you have your answers to living. As for the tx and hep. . . it will be what it will be.

best wishes,

Max

Hi Mindy,

Congratulations on the one year sobriety birthday. I am sure you feel somewhat accomplished by this. One year was a great feeling for me. So keep up the good work and being sober will give your liver a big break.  Hang in there Mindy, we gotta stay in one day at a time mode, and we never know what the tommarrows may bring.

Before you can achieve, you must first BELIEVE

Mindy, I believe 100% with what Max said. We have to celebrate Life! Who knows what tomorrow holds for

us. I live each day to the very fullest, never wasting one moment worrying about my HCV. What happens will happen. Now we have to have healthy bodies and as good immune system as we can get. By eating good healthy foods, exercise and drink lots of water, I even meditate every day.

All my love and Blessings
you have come far.........Betty

Thanks folks.  All we all have in common is today.  Yesterday is gone, let it go, tomorrow is not here yet so live in today.  I needed that boot in the but from you.  Thanks for always being here.  Just another awesome fellowship I am proud to be a member of.  You will see more on line more often, the twins start kindergarden (full day) on 9/2/09.  mindy
