HCV Anonymous Positive Attitudes:

Audience
In the United States, almost every person knows someone with HCV.  As of September 2000, it is estimated that 5 million Americans (some estimates go as high as 15 million) are infected with hepatitis C, and that there are up to 230,000 new hepatitis C infections in the U.S. every year.  About 8,000 to 10,000 Americans die of HCV annually, and the toll is expected to triple in the next decade or two.

It is estimated that globally there are over 200 million people chronically infected with Hepatitis C, and this large reservoir of infected persons constitutes a daunting source of potential new infections.  HCV infection is the most common type of chronic viral hepatitis in the developed world.

Over the next 10-20 years chronic hepatitis C is predicted to become a major burden on the health care system as patients who are currently asymptomatic with relatively mild disease progress to end-stage liver disease.

It is quite possible that the need for this manuscript will surpass many of the other 12-Step Programs.  Eventually it will need to be published in every major language.

Style

The book is written in a straightforward, common sense style, in easily understood terms.  Simply put, the book is informative and practical without being preachy.

Existing Products

There is no comparable title available.

There are many books on hepatitis C.  However, this manuscript is different from the others.  It is a workbook.  It offers guidelines for working a 12-Step program.  In addition, it provides guidelines to help build a society of concerned individuals.

It can help the afflicted to get in harmony with their inner selves by examining their lives and receiving assistance from their peers at meetings.  It will help families and friends understand just what the afflicted person is going through.

Readers will choose to buy this book because:

There are meetings for people with HCV being held worldwide.  This manuscript can be made available to everyone who has been diagnosed with HCV at a clinic.

Positive Attitudes offers guidelines for a variety of meeting formats.
